- Digital photo meeting the official requirements (plain light background, no glasses or headwear)
- Application filled without errors on the official portal — typos and transliteration slips cause refusals
- Medical insurance covering Russia for the entire stay — most Western insurers exclude Russia, so the policy must be chosen carefully
